Because you need some background music while you’re working, cruise on over to Sound Train Music.
They’re doing a really great job with music selection. There’s a country station and a rock station so whichever way you’re inclined, you’re covered. Complete with train whistle at the top of the hour!

I think I should post a traditional sketch before this turns into a Design blog.
Illustration… represent, bitches.

(untitled) watercolor pencils on paper, 25 x 27 cm
I don’t mind admitting that I study figure drawing from DVDs from time to time. It’s especially nice when you find a production like HBO’s ‘Rome’ that has such masterful production design and lighting. This is a sketch of Posca, a character from that series.

The first thing to say about this cover is that I did not come up with the design. The design came off the hardcover, seen here, and though we were offered a photo similar to the one seen on the hardcover, I preferred the cleaner look of the image I found on iStock. The green colors I used for banners on the front, spine, and as a gradient on the back cover were sampled off the money that’s fluttering down from above. It was actually kind of fun placing each of those bills just so. When choosing the font, I leaned towards something reminiscent of the bold, decorative lettering found on money.
